Should You Be Applying Your Highlighter with a Brush or Just Your Fingers?
Every day we come across new makeup trends and new makeup launches on social media, but you know how they say old is gold? Makeup applicators lie precisely in that category. For as long as we can remember, people have either used makeup brushes or their fingers to apply makeup. But if you had to pick one, which one would it be?
Here’s talking glowy makeup, highlighters, and the two most commonly used applicators:
1. Applying a Highlight with a Brush
For most makeup artists, good-quality makeup brushes are their first preference for applying powder products. Brushes are largely preferred due to their versatility and ability to apply cream, liquid, and powder formulas evenly.
A fluffy brush or a fanned angled brush may be used to deposit small amounts of the product evenly. This eliminates any chances of sporting an unnatural shine that makes you resemble the tin man. However, for more precise application of the highlighter, such as in the inner corners of your eyes or the center of your eyelid, you can switch to smaller eyeshadow brushes that really pack the product in place.
2. Apply a Highlighter with Fingers
Some makeup lovers swear by their highlighter applying more richly and smoothly with their fingers. Brushes tend to deposit particles of the highlighter by loosely dispersing them in the desired region; this makes the pigment appear less bold and packed together. On the other hand, the warmth of the fingers allows the product to really blend into the skin and create a more intense sheen. Try swirling your finger in the highlighter and then patting the product directly onto your cheekbones, cupid’s bow, brow bone, and bridge of the nose.
